Vinyl wallpapers
Vinyl wallpapers appeared not a long time ago. They are washable, waterproof and long-lasting. Thanks to these qualities we can use vinyl wallpapers for hanging on the walls in the rooms that need wet-cleaning (kitchens, bathrooms, halls, etc.). They consist of two layers. Bottom layer, paper or woven, is covered with a layer of PVC and then printed and embossed.
There are two main groups of vinyl wallpapers: expanded vinyl embossed and not embossed. Elysium produce only embossed wallpapers.
Expanded vinyl – is made by coating of vinyl on paper on the screen printing line, then the web goes through the oven, where one of the additives – gas – evaporates.
Emboss – it is a process when the printed web goes through the special oven where under high temperature polymer becomes soft. Later on the web is pressed by a nip to the emboss cylinder at the oven exit.
Expanded vinyl is divided into 4 groups: heavy vinyl, compact vinyl, light vinyl and chemically embossed product.
Light vinyl - is the biggest class of wallpapers in the designs and degree of shining. Vinyl base is printed in a special complicated way and then embossed. Texture of wallpapers is thin and smooth, it imitates silk.
Chemically embossed product – smooth, glossy surface, which is a great advantage in regards of cleaning them. They are very strong and hardly damaged by water, sun and cleaning agents.
Originally this type of wallpapers was produced for kitchens and bathrooms. While producing these wallpapers the image is printed on the vinyl base, then special agent called inhibitor is coated in some areas to stop expansion. When the web goes through the oven the vinyl expansion is even except the places where the inhibitor is coated.
